Accounts & balances
Accounts you don't get statements for — a savings pot, a brokerage account. Set what each one is worth and update it whenever you check. They have no transactions, so they never count as money in or out and never reach the charts, the table or a CSV export; they only add up. Total wealth covers exactly the accounts listed here, so add your current account too if you want the whole picture.

Categories
Click the ⇄ on a category to exclude it from the totals and chart above (transactions still show in the table) — useful for things like transfers to savings that aren't real income or spending. Click it again to include it.
Categorization rules
A transaction takes the category of the first rule whose keyword it contains, and the rule you added most recently is tried first — so a new UBER EATS rule wins over an older UBER one. The keywords below are grouped by category for reading, which is not the order they're tried in.
Re-apply rules to all re-sorts every imported transaction using your current rules; anything you added, edited, or re-categorized yourself is left untouched.

Imported files
Daybook remembers every statement you've imported so the same file can't be added twice. Forgetting one here doesn't remove its transactions — it only means Daybook will read that file again if you import it, which is how you get back a transaction you deleted by mistake.
Budgets
What you mean to spend in a category each month. Leave one blank to have no budget for it. Income and any category excluded from the totals aren't listed — a budget on money coming in, or on moving your own savings around, would only measure the wrong thing.
Description display
When a bank's descriptions carry a whole payment record, you can show just one part of it in the table. The full text is never altered — it stays in the transaction window, on hover, and in your backups.
Currency
Changes how amounts are shown everywhere. Nothing is converted — the numbers from your statements are untouched, this only relabels them. Grouping and decimal separators follow your browser's language.
