What it is
Daybook is a personal finance tracker. Import bank statements, get them sorted into categories, and see your spending for any date range.
Why it's private
Your statements are read and stored in your browser, never sent to a server. There's no account, no analytics and no third-party requests, and a Content-Security-Policy makes the browser enforce that. Backups are files you keep.
It's a solo project. No ads, no data resale, free to use.
Features
Importing statements
- CSV, XLS or XLSX from any bank. Drop them anywhere on the page
- Columns are detected automatically, or matched once and remembered
- Several banks in one view, each with its own label
- Duplicates are skipped, even when a bank rewords a payment
- Ambiguous dates like
03/04 are read per file, not guessed
Categories and rules
- Keyword rules sort transactions as they arrive, with editable defaults
- See what a new rule would change before you save it
- Recategorise one transaction and the matching ones follow, or tick several and move them together
- Exclude transfers, so moving your own money isn't counted as spending
Seeing where money goes
- Money in, money out and net for any date range, by category
- A monthly trend chart: in against out, year against year, or one category
- Monthly budgets per category
- Notes and receipt photos on any transaction
- Savings and investment balances, for your total wealth
Editing, backups and exports
- Edit or delete anything. Your edits survive re-running the rules
- One-click backup to a single file, restorable in any browser
- A reminder when your last backup is more than 30 days old
- CSV export of the current view or the whole daybook
